  Aged: 95 Years, 8 Months From The Vermont Journal, Nov. 26, 1892: “Royalton- Intelligence has been received of the death of Abial Thirsy Dutton, Esq., a native of this town, at Burlingame, Kansas, the 12th inst., in the 96th year of his age. He was born March 28, 1797, and early moved to Hartford, Vermont with his parents. In 1857 he moved to Kansas, settling in Burlingame, then a new place known as Council City, where he remained until his death. Deceased was a son of the late Benjamin Dutton of Hartford and Clarissa Thomas of Woodstock, being the eldest of four sons and seven daughters, of whom he was the last survivor, except for one residing in Utah. Mr. Dutton married, February 24, 1823, Dora, a daughter of Hezekiah Hazen of Hartford, by whom he had seven sons and three daughters. Of these, two sons and two daughters are now residing in and about Burlingame. Of the sons, Simon M. died in Texas while in military service; Harvey was lost at sea; Horace, a member of Co. H, 11th Vermont was captured in front of Petersburg, and died in the rebel prison pen at Florence, Ala.; Loren a member of a Nebraska regiment, was accidentally shot by a comrade while serving in Missouri; and Edwin died in government service. The mother died in October 1884, by whose side in the beautiful cemetery at Burlingame the remains of the father are now placed. Deceased was widely known as an upright man of much ability, and as such was honored and respected by a large circle of friends and acquaintances, which join the surviving members of his family in mourning the loss of one of the pioneers of Kansas.” [6]
