  My friend and fellow researcher Jill Herzog walked this cemetery many years ago and recorded the gravestones. She noted the stones for Daniel and his wife Margaret were home-made and very weathered. It is possible they are no longer readable, if they still exist. ********************* Alma Enterprise, Friday, Sept. 9, 1932, page 1: Our Oldest Residents Dan Dutton Nearly 87 and Mrs. Dutton 78, Were Married in 1879 Married since 1879, Mr. and Mrs. Dan H. Dutton of Keene can celebrate their 55th wedding anniversary next year. They were married at Meriden. Mr. Dutton was born at Mendon, Ill., April 23, 1846. His wife before their marriage was Maggie Teter. She was born in West Virginia, Sept. 13, 1855, her parents being Henry and Rebecca Teter. Her home before coming to Wabaunsee county was at Centerville, Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. Dutton have lived 51 years in this county at Maple Hill and Keene. Their surviving children are: F.D. and R.E. Dutton of Dover, Mrs. F.L. Fauerbach, Maple Hill, Mrs. A. J. Davidson, Grand Valley, Col., and Mrs. H.K. Martin of Benkelman, Neb. They have 23 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The Duttons consider their visit to the Gulf of Mexico and the Rocky Mountains the most enjoyable experience of their lives. Mrs. Dutton writes in reply to the question of what work or hobby gives them the most enjoyment that it is driving their car. The question as to whether folks now have the same opportunity for earning and saving as they did 50 years ago, she answers "yes." They have seen harder times than we are experiencing, and they say the way out now is staying on the job. Alma Enterprise, Friday, Feb. 14, 1936, page 1: Died Dan Dutton, aged over 89, died Wednesday a.m. at the home of his daughter Mrs. Maude Fauerbach near Maple Hill. He would have been 90 on April 23. He was a long time resident at Keene and Frank Dutton of Dover is his son. Alma Enterprise, Friday, Feb. 21, 1936, page 1: Keene Funeral services were held at the Wesleyan church Feb. 13 for Dan Dutton who died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Maude Fauerbach.
