• Notes

  Titus A. Cook, son of Samuel and Chloe Cook, was the first person born in Pawlet, Vermont on July 22, 1768. He settled near Granville, New York, where Mrs. Amanda Culver now lives. He was master builder in the construction of churches and the better class of dwellings. The old Congregational church, the Baptist church, the old Episcopal church at Granville were erected by him. He was justice over thirty years and esteemed a pure and upright magistrate. He died in 1827, aged 60. None of his family remain. (From Pawlet, One Hundred Years by Hiel Hollister, pg. 179)
