• Notes

  Merritt served in the Army (CO. I, 87 OVI) at the beginning of the Civil War. He was capture and later paroled from Harpers Ferry. He the joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed on boared the USS Peri and served in the Missippi Squadron. He married Janette Mott on Nov. 27, 1866 in Troy, Ohio. [1]
