  • Notes 
    • The Rev. John C. Welwood, 88, a retired Episcopalian minister, who for a number of years rector of the American Church of St. John in Dresden, Germany, died at Unadilla, New York, where he was spending the summer. He had been in the ministry for more than 60 years. He served in Germany from 1914 to 1921.

      During the war with Spain, Rev. Welwood was chaplain of the 2d Massachusetts Volunteer Regiment and saw action at San Juan Hill and other engagements. He was a member of the Naval and Military Order of the Spanish-American War.

      Rev. Welwood first married Alba E. Wall, daughter of Joseph and Helen Wall, on December 11, 1882 in Boston, Massachusetts. She was born in the District of Columbia. They had one daugher, Frances A. Welwood, born in 1885 in New York.

      He married second, Cora Lounsbury, daughter of Benj. Franklin and Harriet Marion (Conant) Dutton, on April 2, 1921, in Hillsborough, New Hampshire. She was born on May 15, 1852.

      Two nieces, Miss Ada L. Hill and Miss Abby R. Welwood survive. He was born in Brooklyn, the son of Thomas and Abby (Cornwell) Welwood.

      Sag Harbor, L.I. - The Rev. John C. Welwood, who resigned as rector of Christ Church Easter week, and Mrs. Cora D. Lounsbury, widow of Alfred B. Lounsbury, of New York City, were married April 2 at Hillsborough, New Hampshire. They will reside during the summer months at Mrs. Welwood's estate, "Dutton Farm" near Hillsborough, and go to Italy in the fall, where a married daughter (Frances) of Mr. Welwood has a villa at Milan.
