  • Notes
    • He was baptized in the Parish of All Saints in Northampton, Northamptonshire, England, in 1610. Henry was born probably in Wales, circa 1610. He was the son of Henry Felch and Margaret (?). Sergeant Henry Felch Junior resided in Reading, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, before 1647 to 1699. He was probably in Reading earlier than 1647. In the town records of Reading, MA he is often styled "Sergeant Henry Felch," which shows that he was a member of the first military unit in Reading, the "Reading Infantry Company," which was probably formed at the incorporation of the town in 1644. He married Hannah Sargent in Reading, Mass., in 1649. Henry died on 11 November 1699 in Reading, Mass.. He came to America with his parents. He was a proprietor at Gloucester, MA, and settled for a while in Watertown, MA. He removed to Reading, MA in 1647, and became prominent in town affairs. He was a Selectman in 1647, 1648, 1651, and 1681, and a Surveyor of Highways in 1648. As befits his Quaker connections, he did not appreciate Puritan institutions. On 10 September 1653 he was convicted of leaving the public assembly during a baptism, was admonished by the court, and was ordered to pay John Eaton 2 shillings. [1]
