- SAN ANGELO - Mozelle (Hamilton) Tarter, 93, passed away Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, in San Angelo.
She was born in Mexia, Texas, on July 31, 1921, to Robert Costilow and Grace Mathews. They later moved to San Angelo, where she met and married C.C. Hamilton. Together they ran a successful barbecue restaurant on S. Oakes Street called Hamilton's Bar-B-Q. C.C. would cook his famous barbecue and chili, Mozelle would make the desserts, all of which would sell out daily. Being an exceptional cook, everyone knew if they were invited to a meal at her house they were in for a treat they would not soon forget. Mozelle loved playing card games of any kind, and was an avid bridge player belonging to numerous clubs.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and a sister, Edwina Hanz.
She is survived by her two sons, David Hamilton and his wife, Helen, of Glen Allen, Virginia, and Mark Hamilton and his wife, Charlotte, of San Angelo; grandsons Mark Hamilton Jr. and his wife, Wendy, of San Angelo and Christopher Hamilton and his wife, Laura, of Indianapolis, Indiana; granddaughters, Stacie Haygood and her husband, Wayne, of Aylett, Virginia, Laurel Loughman and her husband, Mickey, of Marietta, Georgia; great-grandchildren, Hunter and Megan Hamilton, Abigael, Jamie, Jacob, Matthew and Bethany Loughman, Collin and Jayde Haygood, Micah, Landon and Owen Hamilton.
