Thomas Pope did not have a son by the name of William Pope. Thomas Pope's last will made no mention of him. See The Great Migration Begins, Immigrants to New England, Vol. III, at pp. 1496-1499 (1995).

When the Fairhaven Improvement Association was excavating for a foundation for a memorial for John Cooke, the last surviving male Pilgrim on the Mayflower, 4 skeletons were mistakenly unearthed. 2 adult males and 2 children. One was definitely John Cooke since his coffin had a name plate reading, "John Cooke". The other, was thought to have been Thomas Pope. They were buried at Oxford Burial Hill which since has been named Cooke Memorial Park in Fairhaven Massachusetts. This info on Thomas Pope was found in the Fairhaven Star newspaper dated, December 20, 1902.
