......The sad news of the death of Mrs. Chas. Dutton came over the wire last week, also that she would be buried in the cemetery at the old C. P. church, by the side of her father and sister, who passed away several years ago. Mrs. Dutton was born and raised here in this neighborhood. Her parents was Mr. and Mrs. Robert McConaghey. Ida, as we all knew her, was a good girl. The writer knew her all her life. At the age of 16 she had grown to the years of account ability and knew that her God had appointed a place for his children, and after considering what was best and what is the duty of us all, she united with the M. E. church at Evans Chapel and started on her heavenward way like many other pilgrims who are on their heavenward way. She had many a heavy cross to bear. She stood true to her God and true to her neighbors as was proven by the respect and true love and floral offerings. About 26 years ago, August the 17th, she was married to Chas. Dutton. To this union was born nine children, six sons and three daughters. One son and one daughter is married and one son is in the navy, serving our country. Her pall bearers was six lovely ladies of Macon, where they made their home for the last few years. The ladies were Mrs. Emery Myers, Mrs. Brammer, Mrs. Vaughn Gross, Mrs. Arthur Walker, Mrs. Floyd Watkins, Mrs. George Holly. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bobins, J. R. Louis were some of the flower carriers. The flowers were very beautiful and her lovely casket was covered with lovely flowers. Ida was 49 yrs. of age. She was a faithful, loving wife, a gentle kind mother, a thoughtful and unselfish neighbor and a true follower of Christ. Everything that loving hands could do was done, and she willingly passed away on Tuesday, June 22 (sic), 1920. The funeral services was preached by the pastor of the M. E. church. Besides her husband and children she leaves four sisters and four brothers to mourn the loss of a faithful wife, one of the dearest of mothers, a good neighbor. Her relatives have our heartfelt sympathy.

We can see the Mamma darling,
Thru the vail we cannot pierce.
Will you guide us thru life's journey
Tho the storm rage wild and fierce.
Yes, I almost see you beckon us to yonder shore.
We will see you there, dear Mamma, as in days of yore,
Happy there with our dear Savior in
      His sweet redeeming grace.
Soon across the stream of Jordan, we shall see you face to face.
Happy then in his own likeness, we shall tread the golden strand
With the sorrows left behind us, then, oh then, we'll understand.
