  May 23 1910 Fulton Times The many friends of Grove H. Dutton, aged 63, were shocked to learn of his death which occurred late on Tuesday night of last week at his home. The deceased had been in failing health for several months and recently underwent a critical operation a hospital, the only chance he had for life. It was thought that the surgeon's knife had given him a new lease of life but his constitution was too shattered by months of suffering to rally from the shock of the operation and death came almost as he was sending a message of cheer to his Grand Army comrades that he hoped soon to be with them again. The deceased was a native of Granby and he held a most enviable record for service to his country during the Civil War, giving up an arm at the battle of Gettysburg and almost surrendering his life He was Past Commander of Post Schenck, G.A.R. in this city and he had held many positions of trust and responsibility in political life, being at one time supervisor of Granby. At the time of his death he held position in the Custom House in Oswego. Interment was made in Mt Adnah. Besides the widow three daughters, Bessie, Ruth and Anna of Granby, and five sons, Ralph J . Dutton, Grove H. Dutton.Jr.; and Colt E. Dutton of Grapby, Bruce A. Dutton and Orson H. Dutton of Montana: and one sister, Mrs. C. M. Strickland survive. [4]
