    • Emma Louis "Em" (born Ruby) Willey was the daughter of Richard Frederick "Fred" Ruby (1884 - 1955) and Adele (born Schmale) Ruby (1878 - 1954) in Zeona (Perkins County), South Dakota, USA.

      On June 12, 1943, Emma married Orman Othe "Ormie" Willey in Zeona (Perkins County), South Dakota, USA. They enjoyed 66 wonderful years together until "Ormie" passed away on May 22, 2009.

      Both Emma and "Ormie" Proudy Served in the United States Army during World War II. It is fitting, then, that these two Veterans' final resting place is Roseburg National Cemetery, Roseburg (Douglas County), Oregon, USA.

      Since 1991, Emma L. Willey designed, created and wrote over 170 projects in needle crafts, which were published in 30 craft magazines:

      Emma enjoyed writing while living in Roseburg, Oregon with one of her three grown children. Emma then 'retired' to West Virginia with another of her three grown children.

      Emma is survived by her three grown children, six grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.

      Life Legacy | Official Family Obituary

      Emma Louise Willey, 94, of Mineral Wells, W.Va., passed away on November 5, 2014 at Carehaven of Pleasants, in Belmont, W.Va.

      She was born September 19, 1920, in Zeona, S.D., a daughter of the late Richard F. and Adele Schmale Ruby.

      Emma was a school teacher and a self employed writer (authored three books) and craft designer. She was an Army Staff Sergeant and Veteran of World War II. She was a member of Women of the Moose and was a Lutheran by faith. Her hobbies were needlework and playing cards.

      She is survived by two daughters, Valerie (Terry) McGee of Mineral Wells, and Marlene (Norman) Johnson of Sioux Falls, SD; one son, Orman Ray (Katie) Willey of Barton, VT; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

      In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orman O. Willey; seven brothers; and four sisters.

      A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 2333 Pike St., Parkersburg, W.Va.

      The family would like to thank Dr. Byler and staff at Carehaven for their excellent care of Emma and also, Dr. Elizabeth Powers, Dr. Chua and the staff at the Veterans Clinic in Parkersburg.

      Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 162 Court St., Charleston, WV 25301
