  ROSE FLORENCE RUBY (1918 - 1935) When Rose became seriously ill, Dr. Frock made the trip to the Ruby Family homestead to see her. Rose already suffered from a thryroid condition, and this time Dr. Frock diagnosed Rose with pneumonia and left some pills for her. One afternoon, Rose's Sister Emma went in the bedroom to see Rose, and Rose asked Emma to play the piano for her. Emma was pleased, as Rose had encouraged Emma to take the same correspondence piano course Rose had finished. Emma sat down at the old upright piano and played her renditions of "The Black Hawk Waltz," "Reverie," "Rustic Dance," "The Black Hawk Waltz," and "Falling Waters." When Emma went back into the bedroom, Rose said, "Thanks for playing for me. You are doing well, and I want you to keep on practicing." Those were Rose's last words she spoke to Emma. The next day Mama Adele called out frantically, "Emma, come in here and help me with Rose. I can't wake her up to give her the pills. You rub her legs while I rub her arms." Mama Adele and Sister Emma worked hard to wake her, but it didn't help, and Rose quietly stopped breathing.
