  Technician Fifth Class (T/5)(Equivalent to Sergeant/E-5), U.S. Army, WWII Christopher Benjamin "Chris" Ruby spent his early years on the homestead of his Uncle Carl Benjamin "Ben" Ruby (1877-1910) and his Father Richard Frederick "Fred" (1884-1955); On that homestead the 2 Ruby brothers built a one-room sod house originally built for his Uncle Ben and his Wife Adele (born Schmale) Ruby (1878-1954) and their six children--Fred, Anna, Carl, Paul, Frank, and Bill. Chris' Uncle Ben was killed in a coal mine near the homestead, and a couple of years later Chris' birth Mother Adele married Ben's brother Fred, and the children all lived together as one loving family. Chris' Father Fred and Chris' birth Mother Adele gave birth to six more children--Chris, Richard, Rose, Ruth, Emma, and May, which were all born in that sod house, except May.
