On May 28, 1689 at Rehoboth, Mass., Jonah m. Elizabeth Kendrick, dau. of George Kendrick and Ruth Bowen, b. Sept. 12, 1661 at Rehoboth, Mass. and d. at Windham, Conn. on Aug. 5, 1725, Æ 64. They had the following seven children, all b. of record at Rehoboth before the family relocated to Windham, Conn. • i. Rebecca Palmer, b. Feb. 29, 1689/90 (sic), d. Mar. 7, 1725/6 at Windham, Conn., Æ 37; m. Feb. 22, 1711/2 at Windham, Conn. as his 1st wife, Thomas Read. Seven children of the family. • ii. Elizabeth Palmer, b. Sept. 14, 1691, d. July 1, 1750 at Windham, Æ 59; m. Aug. 19, 1711 at Windham as his 1st wife, John Spencer, s. of Samuel and Sarah Spencer, b. circa 1684 and d. at Windham, Conn. on Apr. 5, 1772. Eight children of the family. He m. 2) Jan. 24, 1750/1 at Windham, Eleanor Arnold. • iii. Jonathan Palmer, b. March 20, 1692/3. • iv. Gershom Palmer, b. Nov. 14, 1694, d. Dec. 11, 1776 at Windham, Conn., Æ 83; m. 1) June 28, 1715 at Windham, Elizabeth Spencer, dau. of Samuel and Sarah Spencer, and sister of John Spencer the husb. of Gershom's sister Elizabeth, b. Aug. 21, 1689 and d. Nov. 22, 1766 at Windham, Æ 78. Four children of the family. Gershom m. 2) June 23, 1772 at Windham, Naomi Grover, dau. of Matthew Grover and Naomi Hines, and widow of George Allen, b. June 22, 1706 at Reading, Mass. and d. at Windham on Aug. 15, 1773, Æ 68. There were no children of this second marriage. • v. Hannah Palmer, b. April 28, 1696, d. Oct. 12, 1755 at Windham, Æ 60; m. Apr. 27, 1721 at Windham as his 2nd wife, John Read, Jr., who d. at Windham, Conn. on Mar. 5, 1734/5. Eight children of the family. John Read m. 1) Mar. 14, 1710/11 at Windham, Mary Branch, by whom he had four children before her death at Windham on Oct. 8, 1718, three of the children dying in infancy. • vi. Ruth Palmer, b. March 27, 1698, d. in her youth at Winham, Conn. on Nov.16, 1711. • vii. Elihu Palmer, b. Jan. 19, 1699/700, d. July 22, 1764 at Windham, Conn., Æ 67; m. Sept. 30, 1725 at Windham, Abigail Robinson, dau. of Peteer Robinson, Sr. and Experience Lumbert, b. Aug. 5, 1701 at Tisbury, Mass. and d. at Windham on Dec. 29, 1765, Æ 65. Seven children of the family. Elizabeth (Kendrick) Palmer has a standing gravestone at Palmertown Cemetery in Windham, Conn. However, by 1930 evidence that husband Jonah Palmer once had a gravestone could not be found. [3]
