    • Will Ming Butler was welcomed by his Savior into eternal life on November 19, 2020. Visitation and Funeral Services will be held at Lakeside Presbyterian Church, 2070 Spillway Road, Brandon, MS 39047. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 22nd from 3pm-5pm and Monday November 23rd from 9am-10am. Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 10 am.

      Will was eighty four (84) years old. He resided in Brandon, MS. He was born September 12, 1936 to the late George William Butler, Sr. and Charlie Taylor Ming Butler of Batesville, MS. He was the grandson of the late William Henry Ming and Effie Taylor Ming of Batesville, MS.

      Will was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Martin Butler, his daughter Jessica Butler, his sister Judith Butler Elliott and his brother George William Butler, Jr.

      He leaves behind his daughter Kelly Butler of Brandon, MS, grand-daughters, Carlie Bates Watkins (Ethan), Kayla Bates Harrell (Ethan), Kristin Bates, grand-son Patrick Bates, great-grandson Gunner Wright Harrell and his brother John Dudley Butler of Benton, MS.

      Will graduated from Batesville High School. After graduation from high school, Will enlisted in the United States Navy where he served as a gunners mate on the USS Frank E. Evans. After serving a tour of duty in the United States Navy he attended Northwest Mississippi Junior Col-lege and later Mississippi State University where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Transportation Management.

      After graduation from MSU, Will continued to serve in the United States Navy Reserve and lat-er rose to the rank of First Class Chief Petty Officer.

      Will worked in a managerial capacity for over 40 years in the trucking business and was named Employee of the Year by Con-Way Freight Line.

      Will was an active member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church in Brandon, MS where he served as a deacon for many years and sang in the choir. He volunteered his time each week with the men’s group to perform needed repairs and maintenance at the church.

      Will also journeyed on numerous Mission Trips to Africa, Mexico and other countries. All the while serving as a great mentor to his grandson, Patrick and others.

      Will loved to hunt and fish with his family but most of all he just loved his family with all his heart. He had a servants heart, was selfless and always willing to help others. His love and devo-tion to his daughter and grandchildren was evident in everything he did. He lived his life teach-ing his family and others about God.
