• Notes

  The third child (of 11 children) of Peter C. and Regina Cooper born in New York. The second child, a girl also named Regina, was born in 1800 and died in 1801. Regina was born a year later and became the eldest daughter of the family. Her older brother was Christian, b. June 1798. In July 1809, the Cooper family moved to Middleburgh, NY. Sister Margaret, born July 1814, died as a infant. She married Julius Dutton (b. 1792) on Feb 24, 1825 in Broome, Schorarie County, New York. She was his second wife. Together they produced a family of ten children--all sons--born between 1825 and 1845: Lucius, b. 1825 William M., b. 1827 Elias W., b. 1830 Marcus S., b. 1832 Gaius F., b. 1835 George A., b. 1837 Albert M., b. 1840 Alpheus D., b. 1842 Charles B., b. 1843 Asa S., b. 1845 Her brother Martin died in 1830 and her brother Alexander died in 1847 (in Wisconsin). Eldest son Lucius died in 1854 and son Gaius died in 1856. Rena Dutton was widowed in 1870. She died in 1880 at age 77. Both buried at the Dutton Ridge Family Burial Ground in Broome, New York. Survived by eight of her ten sons and an unknown number of grandchildren. Also survived by sisters Catherine Woodcock, Lany (Hiram) Scutt and Harriet (George) Marlett and also by her brother John Cooper. [6]
