    • THE CITIZEN ADVERTISER, AUBURN, N.Y., FRIDAY, JUNE 9, 1945

      Mr.and Mrs. Harold Dutton of 36 Mechanic Street, Weedsport, have been advised by the War Department that their son, Sergt. Richard Dutton, 19, V. S. A., who previously was reported as missing in action, now is listed as killed on February 9, last, in Germany. Early last March Sergeant Dutton's parents received a telegram from the War Department saying their son was missing.

      Born in Weedsport on April 2, 1925, Sergeant Dutton attended school there. He entered the service on July 11, 1943 and first went to Camp Upton, L. I. Later he was transferred to Fort McClellan, Ala., and he then went to Camp McCoy, Wis. During his training he qualified as an aviation student at the University of Minnesota but he was later transferred to the infantry when the army curtailed the aviation program. He was sent overseas in November 1944.

      Besides his parents surviving are a brother, Duane Dutton, S1-C, USN., now home on leave. Both brothers were stellar athletes with Weedsport Central School basketball and baseball teams. [2]
